Currency
The Currency in India is Indian Rupees (INR). Indian Rupee notes are printed in denominations of Rs 1000, 500, 100, 50, 20, and 10. The Rupee is divided into 100 Paise. You will see only 1, 2, 5 Rupee coins and coins below 50 paisa are rarely seen. Keep small denominations notes for the small payments like tips, bus tickets, and meals. Most large establishments in Mysore accept international credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Diners and Amex. Traveller's Cheques issued by reputable companies (e.g Thomas Cook, American Express) are accepted without difficulty.

Bank
Mysore has many Government and Private Banks. Apart from these banks there are other agencies that deal with foreign exchange called Currency Exchange Centres. Foreign currency can be exchanged at most of the Banks and few leading hotels, shops, ad travel agents who have been authorised as restricted money changers. Most of the credit cards are honoured at most of the leading hotels and shops.

The banks have regular and business services and most banks are open on all week days and closed only on Sunday. There are lots of ATM centers available all over Mysore for the convenience of the people.

Credit Cards

Most of the shops, hotels and business establishments accept major credit cards (VISA, Master, etc.). The cards that can be accepted are prominently displayed at the entrance of the establishments.

Electricity

The electrical voltage in India is 220 volts ac, 50 cycles. It is recommended that you check the voltage before using any kind of electrical appliance such as electric shavers, hair-dryers, etc. In case the electric razor you are carrying has flat - pin plug then it is advisable to carry a combination plug that will fit into a round - pin socket. In the Indian sub continent, plug point sockets are usually round than flat.

Medical Insurance

It is suggested to make sure that your Insurance Company covers your stay in India. In any case it is recommended to contact your Insurance Company for more details before your trip to India.
